Fears & Phobias

A phobia occurs when a specific situation, object, or environment triggers an intense surge of fear that feels overwhelming or hard to control. These deep-seated fears often stem from past experiences—sometimes moments we remember clearly, and other times memories that remain hidden just beneath the surface.

When living with a phobia, it is natural to go to great lengths to avoid whatever triggers that distress. However, living in a constant state of high alert or having to reshape your life around avoidance can feel exhausting. Over time, this heightened anxiety can limit your freedom, keeping you from the places, activities, and experiences you once enjoyed.

Please know that an intense fear reaction is simply your nervous system’s way of trying to keep you safe, even if that protection now feels out of balance. You do not have to live under the weight of fear forever.

Whether you choose Counselling or Hypnotherapy, we will work together to find a gentle, supportive approach that feels right for you. We will always move strictly at your own pace, meeting your experiences with warmth, patience, and complete understanding.

In Counselling, I offer a safe, grounding space where we can gently explore the roots of your fear. Together, we can look at what your mind and body are experiencing, learn how your nervous system responds to perceived threats, and use compassionate CBT and solution-focused techniques to help you feel safe, steady, and in control.

If you choose Hypnotherapy, we focus on helping your subconscious mind unlearn the automatic fear response. Through gentle guided imagery during hypnosis, we can safely reframe old associations, soothe an overactive threat system, and help your body remember what calm feels like—allowing you to face previously daunting situations with quiet confidence.

Together, we will work toward releasing the grip of fear, helping you reclaim your freedom, expand your world, and move forward with ease and peace of mind.
