Hypnosis or trance induction is a method to help you focus and reach a level of deep relaxation.

Trance is a naturally occurring state of mind we slip into frequently, like when we're driving, walking, or simply daydreaming.

In Solution Focused Hypnotherapy, we use trance during the hypnosis part of the session. It serves as a catalyst for positive changes and occurs when the conscious & subconscious mind are focused on the same thing.

When we are in this relaxed state, we can tap into the subconscious, the part of our brain that aids in creating new neural connections, sorting through information, and finding solutions.

In reality, we all frequently enter light trance states, either daydreaming or sleeping. Even if it may not feel like it, everyone has the ability to be hypnotised to some extent.  Remember that every person's hypnotic experience is a little bit unique. It may be easier for certain people than for others to go into a hypnotic state. Being open and trusting in the process are crucial.

A hypnotist is a person who performs stage hypnosis for entertainment; a hypnotherapist is a person who works with individual clients to facilitate positive change through therapeutic processes, combining talk therapy with clinical hypnosis or trance.

In Hypnotherapy, we use trance, which is a natural state of mind that we experience multiple times a day.

Trance is a focused and guided state of relaxation, like daydreaming, where you maintain full control.

It doesn't involve mind control or pocket watches, and it doesn’t make you cluck like a chicken! (Like you would see for entertainment purposes performed by a stage hypnotist.)

In this daydream like state, replicating REM sleep, your subconscious mind is actively processing events & new positive suggestions. It’s a nice relaxing feeling that many people describe as deeply relaxed ‘heavy’ or ‘floaty’ sensation.

It is not possible to become ‘stuck’ in a hypnotic state, despite what some TV shows or films may imply. We naturally go through periods of relaxed attention, often known as hypnosis or trance, multiple times a day and are always fully in control.

Hypnotherapy conducted by a qualified, trained professional is a very safe and effective tool to help create positive change and promote an increase in overall well-being.

Certain mental health conditions, such as Psychosis, would require permission from your healthcare provider before commencing.

Clients with epilepsy must also seek advice from their healthcare professional before commencing.

If you are unsure about whether hypnotherapy is safe for you, please seek medical advice from your GP before commencing any treatment.

Online hypnotherapy sessions can be conducted over the phone or via a video chat platform. In addition, your hypnotherapist can offer you advice on self-hypnosis methods, including how they function and how they can help you in between online sessions and beyond.

As Hypnotherapy is not regulated in the UK, It’s important to ensure that you research the correct professional qualifications of your chosen hypnotherapist before committing to any treatment, such as

DFSFH - Diploma for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy

HPD - Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma - (This is considered the Gold Standard Hypnotherapy Qualification)

AHD - Advanced Hypnotherapy Diploma

Additionally, along with having the correct professional qualifications, they should be registered with a regulatory body such as The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), which is a regulatory body in the United Kingdom which provides a voluntary register of complementary rather than alternative medicine.
