Menopause Support

Counselling and Hypnotherapy at Illuminated MInds Clinic in Hyde. BACP & CNHC Registered

The menopause transition, which includes perimenopause and menopause, is a natural stage of life. But it doesn’t always feel natural when you’re in the middle of it.

For many women, it brings changes in both mind and body that can feel unsettling, confusing, or hard to put into words. You might notice that you don’t feel quite like yourself anymore.

What you might be experiencing

  • Feeling anxious, low or more easily overwhelmed
  • Changes in mood that seem to come out of nowhere
  • Brain fog, or finding it harder to concentrate or remember things
  • Not sleeping well
  • A loss of confidence, or feeling less sure of yourself
  • Changes in how you feel about your body
  • Questions about identity, purpose, or what comes next
  • Pressure in relationships, at work, or in family life

Sometimes these experiences arrive alongside other changes at midlife, such as children growing up, caring for parents, or shifts at work. It can feel like a lot to hold at once.

How therapy can help

Therapy offers a calm, unhurried space to slow down and focus on you. Together, we can make sense of the changes you’re noticing, ease some of the stress you’ve been carrying, and find ways of meeting yourself with a little more kindness through this transition.

Choosing how we work

There are three ways we can work together. You choose whichever feels right, and you can change your mind at any point: integrative work is flexible and built around your needs and wishes.

  1. Counselling on its own. Space to talk openly about what’s happening for you, without having to explain or justify how you feel. I see this stage of life as part of your wider story, and mindfulness practices can help you reconnect with your body through the changes.
  2. Hypnotherapy on its own. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy combines Solution-Focused Brief Therapy with guided relaxation in hypnosis, using positive suggestions to help calm the mind and reduce stress. Many people find it supportive for anxiety, sleep and feeling more settled.
  3. A mixture of both. For example, talking things through in counselling, with hypnotherapy sessions alongside or later on.

Not sure which to choose? We can talk it through on your free call.

This is an area I care about deeply. My current degree research explores the embodied experience of the menopause transition in therapy.

Working alongside your GP

Therapy focuses on the emotional side of the menopause transition. For the physical side, including treatment options, I’d always encourage you to speak with your GP or a menopause specialist alongside our work together.

Taking the first step
