Understanding and managing anger
Anger is a natural human emotion that typically arises when we feel frustrated, hurt, deceived, or under threat. When it becomes overwhelming or hard to manage, it can lead to painful reactions like road rage or lashing out at the people we care about most.
It helps to know that anger is not just a mental state. When we experience anger, our body releases stress hormones and adrenaline to prepare us for a fight-or-flight response. This physical surge can cause a faster heartbeat, tightness in your chest, increased body temperature, physical tension, and intense irritability. When these physical reactions feel stuck on high alert, poor anger management can affect your relationships, work life, physical health, and self-esteem.
You do not have to navigate this alone. Whether you choose Counselling or Hypnotherapy, we will work relationally to find the right approach for you. We always move at your own pace with curiosity and kindness, gently exploring your experiences so you can understand your reactions without shame or judgment.
In Counselling, we focus on providing a safe, warm space where you can explore the root causes of your anger, understand what your body is trying to tell you, and gently shift unhelpful thought patterns using practical CBT and solution-focused techniques.
If you choose Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy, we focus on developing healthy coping strategies and shifting negative thought patterns at a subconscious level. Through gentle guided imagery during hypnosis, we can build positive behavioural responses and mentalise remaining calm in challenging scenarios.
Together, we will work toward boosting your emotional control, confidence, and self-worth so you can feel grounded, peaceful, and fully in control again.
