Stop Smoking or Vaping
Many of us know the risks of smoking or vaping, and how they can affect our health in the long term. So why does stopping still feel so hard, even when we really want to?
Part of the answer is that smoking and vaping are rarely just a habit. For many people, a cigarette or vape has become a way of coping: a moment to pause, to calm down, or to get through a stressful day.
We can also hold beliefs that make letting go feel harder, such as “It helps me relax”, “I’ll put on weight if I stop” or “It’s just part of who I am.” There’s a reason these beliefs feel so real, and they deserve to be understood rather than dismissed.
How I work
I use Solution Focused Hypnotherapy to help people stop smoking or vaping, over a short series of sessions.
Rather than focusing on the cigarette or vape alone, our aim is to reduce the stress that often sits beneath the habit. When overall stress levels come down, many people find they rely less on smoking or vaping to cope, and that change feels more manageable and more likely to last.
Each session combines solution-focused therapy & CBT, looking at what you’d like to be different and the small steps that can help you get there, followed by guided relaxation in hypnosis. During this time, I use positive suggestions to help calm the mind, reduce stress and support the changes you’d like to make.
